Colour and Symmetry

Life is the Greatest JOKE God ever played on Me...

I just wanna register this as my quote.

It's a pessimistic quote which I came up with and liked a lot. This pretty much describes how I feel about Life in general. Really... I dun see anything much worth living for. Life is overrated, too long-winded and so damn boring.

Okay... whatever... better stop here before my friends start to get worried...

True Wealth

This is my new love on my way to work. 93.8 Live. This is from the segment 'A Slice of Life - The Power of Stories'.

True Wealth
----------

One day a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the purpose of showing his son how the poor people live so he could be thankful for his wealth.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"

"It was great, Dad."

"Did you see how poor people can be?" the father asked.

"Oh yeah" said the son. "So what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.

The son answered, "I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."

With this the boy's father was speechless.

Then his son added, "Thanks dad for showing me how poor we are."

One Season Many Faces

Caught the outreach performances of the Singapore Arts Festival at Simei Eastpoint. This performance is called 'Heroes of the La-La Land' by a group of Singapore artistes called Fireflys. Not bad.

Please Dun Change The School Song...

It WAS the school song of my secondary school (Anglican High School). It has been over ten years since I last sang it. I was not able to comprehend and appreciate it back then. But now looking through the lyrics and humming it in my head, I realise there is just so much depth, meaning and literature in it!

After I learnt from Juan's blog that they have revised it (using very very very 普通华文), I cannot help but feel a loss... and I'm sadden by the loss... it felt like a loss of my fond memories of AHS, the sense of belonging, the people I knew and what it had stood for. I hope the school management will think twice about revising such an exquisite school song.

Multi-Racial, Multi-Power

The Rise of two "Superpowers" of the World. China and India.

These was taken at Chinatown and Little India in Singapore. I feel this demonstrated the intrinsic benefits of growing up in a multi-racial society. Believe it or not, Singaporean does have an Edge when it comes to interaction with people of all walks and sorts of lives. "Kiasu" and "going-by-the-book" as we may be... no one can beat us in our ability to adapt cultural diversity!
