A Weekend of Women Who Weeps

Ah-Yu, Yuko and Tracy are the 3 main female characters in the films I caught over the weekend in the SIFF.

Maybe it was purposely scheduled or just pure coincidence that all the films I caught this weekend were about women who have had major issues with their lives.

But they managed somehow and survived ordeals here and there.

Seriously, it could happen to anyone (I suspected I suffered from depression a few times before too). Really, it's how you deal with them and move on with your life. And how to stay positive. But I find it tough to do that when it's so much easier to just presume the worst. I shan't eleborate further on that now because that's not my main point here.

Once again, kudos to the wonderful female leads for such excellent performances!

Nigel Ho!

Congrats to Melvin and Shirley on their newborn baby boy!

Hahaha... isn't he just so tiny and cute?

Hope he doesn't turn out to be as naughty as his dad! :)

Sports Photography!

Thanks to Huaqing, I got a chance to shoot the Standard Chartered Singapore Rugby Sevens. Quite a challenge and tiring too since it was my first attempt to cover such an international sports event.

Will try to post some photos if possible. For now, jus some abstract art of the StanChart colours...

Easy Come. Easy Go.

Recently, I decided to redeem my CitiDollars. After going through the many options, I decided to exchange them for $30 worth of Cold Storage vouchers so that I can save on some groceries. I felt it was the most practical and the most worthwhile option. So after receiving the vouchers, Xiaomin and myself were quite excited on Tue night when we decided to stop by the nearest Cold Storage for a quick 15 minutes shopping spree before our movie.

We parked our car at the public carpark opposite the supermarket and proceeded with our 'spree'. We grabbed toiletries, food and some other necessities. It was really fun zooming through the aisles with our trolley and picking the stuff from the varieties available. Best of all, the total amount went slightly above $30 but we needed only to top up a few dollars even after getting so much supplies. That is the kind of shopping experience anyone would enjoy. So naturally, we were very pleased too. Until...

We saw the parking ticket under the windshield wiper.

S**t man... in a space of 15 freaking minutes, the 'Uncle' came and $30 was gone... and so was the 'happy mood'. The original intention of saving $30 with the vouchers ended up with no savings at all. Only if we had shopped for 10 minutes, only if the cashier was faster, only if I had put a coupon...

IF there's any lessons I learnt that night, it would be:

1. Carpark 'Uncles and Aunties' are omni-present. So never scrounge on a $0.50 coupon even if you know you will only be gone for 15 minutes.

2. There really is no free lunch in the world. There's a reason and balance for everything in life. I gain some, I lose some. Easy come, Easy go.

3. And 'V' is right, "The People should not be afraid of their Governments. The Governments should be afraid of their People."

... ...

I'll pay my fines on Thur.
